An Intro

Hey, I’m Cherokee, and I appreciate the opportunity Hoover has given me to blog a little bit.

About me…I’m a male, cynical, traditional medical student in my 4th year, and if all goes well I’m going into pathology. I won’t go into details right now, but for all of you med students who want to stay in medicine per se, pathology is honestly one of the best choices from my perspective. It’s often overlooked, either because of lack of exposure or misconceptions about the specialty.

Anyway, I’ve really appreciated this blog for the humor, the brutal honesty, and the advice. Truly a great place for premeds, med students, and residents alike to see another perspective that is rarely talked about among physicians-in-training: medicine is not for everyone, and for many people it can equal lots of unhappiness and unfulfillment.

As Hoover states on the “About” page, this site was essentially built on slamming medical school. So while more practical content should be added, tirades over stuff like how bad surgery blows should never stop. I look forward to contributing to the practical content as well as speaking out not only about how badly surgery blows, but also about how badly OB/Gyn blows.

I still rue the day I had to interact with my first funky vagina, and they are now officially the bane of my existence.

    Hi. I am a fourth year med student and I am going into pathology as well. I’m so glad that I have less than nine weeks of med school left! You can check out the Student Doctor Network Pathology forum for info on this great and exciting specialty that’s often overlooked. I also post on SDN under the name Zuwie sometimes.

    hey I’m confused so is this Cherokee person the person who owns this blog??? If so, I thought you said you already graduated me school and were not planning on doing residency?? So are you in a residency or applying to residency?? Or have you decided to do something else? If you have decided to do something else,what are you doing these days?

    Ok that makes more sense. Thanks for the clarification. Also, thanks for the response in your latest post in regards to what you were doing currently. That’s nice to see you found something else you enjoyed more and were able to turn things around to find something you enjoy more.
