SDN Warning

In a post that I made on the SDN forums looking for a writer for this blog that is in residency, I received the following warning:

Dear Hoo\/er,

You have received a warning at Student Doctor Network Forums.

Reason:
——-
Unauthorized Advertising

You may not use SDN to promote your site. Thanks for your understanding on this.

Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum’s rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

All the best,
Student Doctor Network Forums

Since this blog has nothing to sell, I fail to see how this can be called advertising. I wasn’t promoting the blog, but rather looking for additional contributors for it. Additionally, I see links dropped all of the time for medfriends.org, and other medically-related sites. How is that not promotion? Yet, those links go un-moderated.

It was worth a shot. There’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Perhaps SDN doesn’t like anti-med school and anti-medicine blogs. The truth is out there…

  2. raintree says:

I love it! Who cares what they say? Keep on doing what you’re doing…

  3. Hoover says:

Haha, I briefly thought the same Cherokee. I really doubt DrMom actually came over here to see what was going on, though. It’s just a case of somebody trying too hard to be the internet cowboy I think.

  4. Boofus says:

Don’t sweat it – DrMom gets her panties twisted over just about anything. Im suprised you werent issued an “infraction.”

  5. Hoover says:

Boofus, I just checked and I actually did receive an infraction. LOL, what a joke.

You know, you could just drop her a message and tell her what you want. Then, once you’ve had a talk about it, I’d guess that she/SDN might actually come around. It’s not that hard to imagine that your request would be granted.

Or you could just say, “She’s evil and SDN sucks.”

    Just my two cents.

Ha! I know Dr Mom professionally. I go to the same med school she graduated from. She can get a little pedantic about such things. Send her a PM and explain that it is a website for medical students, kind of like Old Premeds, which SDN lets members promote the hell out of. There’s a reason I stay away from SDN and OPM. They both suck.

It may be rare to discover an expert in whom you may have a few faith. In the world at the moment, no one absolutely likes you exhibiting others the answer in this material. How fortunate I will be to have identified an extremely great website since this. It is people like you which create a accurate variation these days with the suggestions they talk about.

  1. [...] original request on the SDN forums was nuked by the internet cowboy, so I’m getting a little more creative with this post and signatures. [...]
