He was in family medicine, of all places, and since it was my last third year rotation, he apparently thought I was supposed to know everything about the practice of medicine by that time. When I got a question wrong, he asked "What were you doing in your Internal Medicine (Ob/Gyn, Surgery, etc) rotation?" or "What kind of evaluation did they give you?" Then he said he was concerned about my "knowledge gaps" since I was a "graduating third year student". Talk about anxiety! I had an attending who might be crowned the king of pimps. Putting people on the spot and embarrassing them in front of their colleagues isn't my style. If it was one on one teaching then I wouldn't worry quite as much, but still. Surgeons are the best at it too. I think they're trying to compensate for something that's lacking in their lives.
