2007 Match Largest In NRMP History

I just learned that the 2007 match was the largest in the history of the NRMP [PDF]. All of the information can be found in the Advance Data Tables for 2007 Main Residency Match [PDF].

6.6% of US Medical Seniors went unmatched for the 2007 year, up from 6.3% the year before.

    In our class, more students matched into pathology than general surgery. People are learning…

    And ~6% going to EM. Wonder how much that’s gonna change by the time I’m the one trying to match?

    Exi, my gut tells me that EM is going to get more competitive in the future. Shift work and good pay - it’s tough to beat.

    This isn’t to say I’d ever do EM, but for those who don’t mind patient contact, it’s a pretty good life.
