I spoke with one of my friends today who is a PGY-2 surgery resident (I know, I tried to talk him out of it), and he further confirms the 80 hour restrictions being just on paper. His program tells them to lie each week and only put down 80 hours. He confirmed that he is working 100+ hours per week on average.

Guys, &lt;strong&gt;do not&lt;/strong&gt; expect to work 80 hours in high-workload specialties just because of the "80 hour work week restrictions." No doubt that some programs do follow these rules, but I'm learning that more and more do not.</description>
