I’m glad I read this. I’ve been experiencing the most confusing time of my life. I’m applying to med school and I wonder whether it is worth all the time and sacrifice. I Love the science of medicine and that is the main reason why I decided to apply to school. Growing up with a poor family, I’ve realized that money is very important factor in enjoying life. I would like suggestions from others please.

I was wondering that after the completion of Md doing a major in which of the programs like Public heath, administration, Bioinformatics has the best financial aspects( in a job , so kindly exclude the notion of starting a company).Since I have a 3 year MD left , please let me know about the opportunities that I can avail to enhance my CV and getting a good program in a good University and eventually a job that pays well…any help would be a great favor.

Don’t invest time, energy, and $ in a career path that you’re certain you won’t enjoy. Most people pursue medicine with certain ideals, dreams, and hopes. The unfortunate reality is that some find that clinical medicine isn’t the right fit for them, but they still enjoy the science of medicine and they wish to use they education/skills/training to improve public health. As a result, certain physicians find themselves in various non-clinical roles and others choose to make a career out of it.

Pre-med 2.0, I’d say don’t do it. Even if your family will pay for your education, you’ll likely be unhappy in school and there’s no guarantee that you can find a non-clinical job when finished.
